BOYS BASKETBALL: Norwich falls to Oneonta

NORWICH – The rivalry game between the Norwich Purple Tornado and the Oneonta Yellowjackets took place at Jack Jones Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. Even with Norwich threatening late in the second half, Oneonta held on to the overall advantage to win 69-55.
Oneonta led throughout the entire game, except for when Norwich took the lead late in the third quarter. Norwich pushed for a comeback with 20 points scored, but ran into some foul trouble that would hurt in the final eight minutes of play.
Steven Dowdall, Wyatt Thornton, and Jerell Stokes continue to play consistent for Norwich, but it was Oneonta’s drive to the basket and recovering of offensive rebounds that helped seal the victory. Dowdall and Thornton both had 14 points while Stokes scored 11 in the loss.
Oneonta’s Brady Carr led the team with 20 while Owen Burnsworth had 18. Oneonta improves to 7-1 on the season.
Norwich will be competing in the Unadilla Valley Holiday Tournament on December 28 against Greene at 3 p.m.
