GIRLS BASKETBALL: Norwich edges past Oneonta
ONEONTA – After some time to prepare, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team finally got their game in against rivals Oneonta, where they squeezed out a 43-38 win. They would’ve like to do so in front of their home crowd last week, but Mother Nature had different plans.
Norwich went off on a steady first half with a 28-15 led at halftime. Oneonta held them to just four points in the third quarter while trying to make a comeback. Norwich made sure that didn’t happen as they came through in the final eight minutes of play.
Paving the way for the Purple Tornado was Olivia Schiraldi with 19 points. She knocked down two three’s in the first half before finishing her night with five free-throws. Emma Urgo finished behind her with nine points in the contest.
Oneonta’s Abbie Platt scored 13 points in the loss.
