BOYS SWIMMING: Norwich drops to Chenango Valley

NORWICH – On Tuesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys swim team hosted Chenango Valley, where they suffered a 72-41 loss. So far this season, Norwich is 1-3 under new head coach Saundra Gantt.
Norwich found a few first place finishes in this meet before Chenango Valley dominated in remaining scores. In the 400 freestyle relay, a team of Ethan Guzewich, Timothy Guzewich, Kristopher Deuel, and Nate Shtrauch picked up the first place victory with a time of 4:14.48.
The same team came in second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.35), less than five seconds behind Chenango Valley (1:44.34). The Warriors then swept the remaining spots, third and fourth, in the event.
Kris Deuel also earned a first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, which he swam in 1:19.30 for Norwich. Overall, he had a solid meet with also achieving a second place finish in the 200 individual medley event.
Teammate Timothy Guzewich came out with a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle while Ethan Guzewich earned second in the 200 freestyle with Amon Oliver coming in fourth.
Norwich will host Owego-Apalachin on Tuesday, January 10 at 5:30 p.m.
