NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley girls basketball team played their final home game of the 2022-2023 season against non-league opponent Schenevus. UV played a stronger second half, but fell in a 51-44 deficit on Monday evening.
UV saw the wrath of the Dragons early as Schenevus showed strength with posting three’s under pressure and collecting offensive rebounds. The Storm did put up a tough defense, but could not produce on offense, which ended up hurting them when attempting a comeback in the second half.
UV came out strong for the final 16 minutes after being down 32-13 at halftime. The Storm played a fierce final quarter with posting 20 points, holding Schenevus to four points to cut the overall final to seven points. While UV fought back from what was once a 20 plus deficit, limited efforts in the first half decided the outcome in the end.
UV’s Jaiden Schrag and senior Kadence York both scored a team-high of 11 points in the contest. York also picked up nine rebounds and two assists while Schrag was powerful on defense, capturing steals and breaking away from opponents to score. Adrienne Hodge finished with 10 points with two three’s off the bench.
The Storm will play their final game of the season at Walton on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
