Oxford Tennis picks up win vs Deposit/Hancock
OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks tennis team returned to the courts on Thursday afternoon against Deposit/Hancock. Oxford earned the victory 5-0 in their first win of the 2023 season.
In the singles, Seniors John Rovente and Madalyn Barrows earned wins. Rovente defeated his opponent Maddie Schloss in both 6-1 sets while Barrows was successful against Sam Griffin by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Sam Hendricks closed out the singles with two 6-0 set wins against Alexis Mead.
For the doubles, Jill and Jocie Finch played strong against Noah Riter and Sophia Aqouauch. Jill and Jocie earned their second win of the season with two 6-0 sets. Nora Thorne with her partner Addison Hinman defeated Hunter Oddo and Amadalie Rodriguiz in two 6-0 sets.
Oxford (1-1) travels to Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday, April 20 for a match beginning at 4:30 p.m.
