TENNIS: Greene defeats Oxford

GREENE – Coming off a tough loss to Sidney, the Greene Trojans tennis team hosted the neighboring Oxford Blackhawks on Monday afternoon. Greene shutout Oxford 5-0.
In the singles, Maeric Barrows defeated Oxford’s John Rovente in two sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-3 while Shane Rideout won against Madalyn Barrows 6-0 and 6-4. Alex Boel rounded out the singles as he defeated Sam Hendricks in a close first 7-6 set and then took the next by a score of 6-3.
Cassie Butler and Paul Starliper got the best of Jill and Jocie Finch in the first doubles match as they won 6-3 and 6-0. Billie Kinney and Hunter Becker defeated Addison Franklin and Addison Hinman 6-0 and 6-0.
Greene heads to Deposit-Hancock this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. while Oxford prepares for Sidney on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
