BASEBALL: B-G falls to Unatego

UNATEGO – Coming off two games played on Saturday, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team faced Unatego, where they suffered a 4-1 loss.
B-G took an early 1-0 lead as Connor Davy hit a two-out RBI triple, driving in Kaiden Seymour, who reached on a walk. Davy was left stranded on third. Davy, Jose Bivar, and Damon Seymour provided the only hits on offense as B-G was limited with three hits total.
Unatego scored three runs in the first off two B-G errors on defense and an RBI single. The Spartans scored one more run in the fourth inning on a stolen base.
Nolan Hawkins pitched five and two-thirds innings for the Bobcats, where he allowed four runs on six hits and struck out six batters. Julian Pruskowski finished the game in relief.
B-G (5-5) hosts Whitney Point in a non-league game on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

BASEBALL:
Afton picks up two wins vs Delhi. Friday’s April 22 game was completed before the start of the regular scheduled game. Afton won 6-5 on a run that came in on a Justin Reeve’s fielder’s choice. Ryan Wright closed the game on the mound as Braydon Baciuska picked up the win and pitched six innings. In the second game, Afton won 5-1. Ryan Wright had two hits and one RBI in four plate appearances. Justin Reeve struck out 11 batters on the mound while only allowing one run on five hits.
SOFTBALL:
UV drops to Deposit-Hancock 5-0. UV’s Haleigh Fisher and Natalie Crandall each managed one hit a piece for the only two hits on offense. Fisher struck out nine batters in the loss.
Oxford falls to Delhi 6-3. Oxford held a 2-1 lead until the Bulldogs scored four runs in the fourth and one final run in the sixth.
TENNIS:
Greene defeats Deposit-Hancock 5-0. Two points came on withdraws while Sarah Markham and Andrea Trifunovic defeated N. Riter and A. Lewis 6-0 and 6-1 in the second doubles. S. Symons won vs A. Mead 6-0 and 6-2 while A. Roth defeated S. Aqouaouch by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
