SOFTBALL: Payton Yahner hits two home-runs in Greene’s win over Unatego

UNATEGO – In Thursday’s 10-2 win over Unatego. the Greene Trojans applauded Payton Yahner’s phenomenal efforts at the plate and on the mound. Payton was a fierce leader on the day, going 3-for-4 at the plate, including two home-runs and six RBIs.
One of Payton’s home-runs was a bases-loaded grand slam in the third inning. She only went down with a hard line drive to third in her first at-bat of the game. Her sister Abby Yahner also contributed with a two-run double in the fifth inning. Greene had a total of six hits in the win.
On the mound, Payton allowed two runs on four hits, walked two batters, and struck out 15.
Greene (7-2) is participating in the Testa Tournament over the weekend at Windsor high school. They will be the visitors against Windsor in the first game at 10 a.m. The Trojans will face Elmira Heights in the second game at noon.
