Greene Tennis honors seniors in loss to Sidney

GREENE – The Greene Trojans tennis team concluded its 2023 regular season with a 3-2 loss to Sidney on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to the match, Greene honored its 2023 seniors. Congratulations to Joclyn Lilley, Paul Starliper, Maeric Barrows, Cassie Butler, Andrea Trifunovic, and Sarah Markham and best of luck to each of you.
Each senior played a part in the match as Maeric and Joclyn played singles, Cassie, Paul, Andrea, and Sarah in the doubles.
Joclyn picked up one point for Greene with two 6-4 wins over Sidney’s Anthony Spinu. Maeric had a close 7-6 (7-2) loss in the first set against Danny Morris and fell 6-3 in the second set. Junior Shane Rideout concluded the singles matches with a win over Gavin Granger 6-2 and 6-0.
Greene lost both doubles matches in the contest. Connor Van Der Sommen and William Dossick defeated Cassie and Paul 6-4 and 6-3 while Sarah and Andrea won the first set but fell in the final two against Emily Morris and Chloe Van Der Sommen.
Greene finished the regular season with a 6-4 record and head to Sectionals this morning at Camp Starlight in Pennsylvania.
