Norwich man charged with breaking into downtown business

NORWICH – On Friday the Norwich City Police Department concluded their investigation into the burglary of A&R Smoke Shop that occurred on April 14, 2023, on North Broad Street.

Police charged Robert E. Colson, 53, of Norwich, with third degree burglary and third degree grand larceny, D Class felonies. He was also charged with third degree criminal mischief, an E felony, and third degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

“The City of Norwich Detectives worked a lot of long hours and chased down numerous leads in this case. Their hard work paid off and we were able to make an arrest of one of the individuals who committed this crime,” reported Norwich Police Chief Reuben Roach.

Police said further arrests are pending and that warrants are expected to be issued Monday.

Robert was arraigned and CAP court and held on no bail, due to prior felony convictions.
