CHENANGO COUNTY – A measure to extend an additional 1 percent sales tax in Chenango County has passed both houses of the state legislature and is now waiting for a signature from the governor.

According to county legislators, the added tax is essential to fund operations at the Chenango County Correctional Facility in Norwich.
