YMCA member competes in Special Olympic Fall Classic
WEBSTER – This past Saturday, local YMCA member Joel Coon, along with special olympics coach Cindy Koenig, traveled to Webster, NY, on Lake Ontario for the Special Olympic Upstate Fall Classic. The event welcomed over 500 athletes, coaches, and volunteers and featured soccer, softball, and cross country.
Joel competed in the cross country event and ran away with a gold medal, finishing the race in 48:03. This honor comes weeks after Joel and other members of the YMCA Special Olympics team competed in a bocce competition.
Congratulations Joel.
