Volleyball: Oxford pushes through in final sets to defeat Deposit/Hancock

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks Volleyball team remains confident through the start of the 2023 season, only holding on to one loss brought by Walton. The Blackhawks swept Deposit/Hancock in all three sets, even though the final two sets were competitive.
Oxford took the first and third set by a score of 25-18 while they fought their way back 25-21 in the second set. In the second set, Oxford was behind and then tied it before pulling away in the final few points.
The Blackhawks were led by setter Ava Benjamin with 13 assists and six aces while Brianna Fowlston also picked up six aces and added four kills in the win. Abby Stone, Mya-Rae Roys, Emerson La Monica, and Quinnlin La Monica each earned three digs while Leah Oliver and Roys led the team with five kills. Quinnlin La Monica picked up the team’s lone block and also collected two aces.
Oxford (4-1) hosts Unatego on Thursday at 6 p.m.
