Girls Soccer: UV defeats Schenevus in non-league play
NEW BERLIN – Coming off a hard loss to Unatego, the Unadilla Valley girls soccer team returned home to face non-league opponent Schenevus on Wednesday. The Storm powered through with two goals in each half and held Schenevus to one goal in the 4-1 victory.
UV took a 2-0 lead at halftime off goals by Natalie Crandall and Jaiden Schrag. Jaiden Schrag leads the team with 11 goals through eight games played. Crandall scored a total of two goals with one in the second half to have five goals on the season.
Myriah Taylor also scored a goal and picked up an assist on Crandall’s first goal. Goalkeeper Kalie Fernandez-Naughton made seven saves in the win.
UV continues to lead the MAC division II with a 3-0 divisional record while being 4-1 in the league overall. The Storm improves to 6-2 on the season with about six regular games left to play, which should all be league contests.
UV hosts Oxford on Friday at 4:30 p.m. UV earned the 5-0 shutout win the last time these two teams played in Oxford earlier in the month.
