Sherburne Fire Department welcomes community for open house

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Fire Department will hold an open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the village fire station, at 15 West State Street.
Fire crews welcome engagement with the public and will be on hand to answer questions, show off equipment and provide demonstrations for attendees. Participants will be able to get hands-on instruction on how to use a home fire extinguisher.
The fire house and all the engines and rescue equipment will be on display for the public to view.
October is Fire Prevention Month and this week in particular is a time for local fire departments to engage with the public and remind people to be safe.
Fire prevention week is from October 9 to October 15 this year. The theme emphasizes awareness of kitchen fire hazards and is called, “Cooking safety starts with you. Pay attention to fire prevention.”
The Sherburne Fire Department is a volunteer department supported by local residents and the community.
