OXFORD — The Oxtober Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, at LaFayette Park in Oxford. Join the fun with pumpkin carvings, a scarecrow contest, music, food trucks, a kid zone, vendors and more.
One of the event coordinators, Sarah Smith, said she would like to thank everyone for being supportive of the rescheduled weather date and said it was a learning experience for them.
“We’re so proud of this event. The numbers continue to increase due to the small town nostalgic atmosphere of Historic Oxford. The community makes Oxford a great place to live,” said Smith.
Smith said the kid zone will be full of fun interactive games including a bounce house, corn pool, animal balloons, a bubble performer, and more.
The Scarecrow Contest registration will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and removal is from 4 to 4:30 p.m. There will be three different categories: traditional, creative, and hometown pride. Individuals or groups can enter, scarecrows must be able to sit or stand on their own and should be family friendly. Winners will receive a ribbon and gift card.
Oxford’s own award-winning recording guitarist, and singer/songwriter Nate Gross; who booked himself and other musicians to join the event. Award-winning Syracuse favorite Los Blancos will bring their vast array of musical styles and Blues music. They've won best band, best blues band, best R&B band and many more honors. Also, Syracuse Rockabilly musicians Morris and The Hepcats will stir up Blues, Surf, and their Rockabilly versions of Classic Rock music.
Food truck vendors will include Ray Bros Bar-b-cue, S&S, Cruz's Mexican Food and The Rolling Scones.
