NEW BERLIN – The thing about zombies is you either love them or you hate them. We are hoping you will love this one as we are going to be resurrecting the Halloween Night of Fun once again for its annual haunt.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this, it was a free event held many years ago on Halloween Night that had a haunted house, a variety of themed games, lots of goodies, and provided kids with a safe place to trick-or-treat.

The school resurrected it in 2017 and added an inside trunk-or-treat with local businesses and organizations. For this resurrection to be successful we needed a few things; all ingredients for a resurrection potion (an eye of newt, one dragon tongue, and six unicorn hairs), participation from community members, and help from the local businesses. We were successful with all three and had great turnouts for three years. In 2020, Night of Fun went back to sleep in the tomb that it was previously resurrected from. After a few years tucked away in that tomb, it was time for Night of Fun to be resurrected once again.

All the nearby ghouls, goblins, and creatures of the night attended en masse, and we had record breaking attendance.

As we prepare to resurrect the Night of Fun from its slumber this year, we have already taken care of the newest resurrection potion and have begun reaching out to the community so now it's all up to you, the local businesses! What businesses have done in years past is decorate a table (that we provide) for the “trunk-or-treat” where they hand out goodies to the kids. Admission is free to all.

This year we had the thought that businesses may want to decorate their tables like a trunk to fit the “trunk-or-treat” theme inside.

Night of Fun will be From 5 to 7 p.m. on October 21 at Unadilla Valley. Businesses will have time that afternoon to come in and set up their areas prior to the start time. Please let us know if you would like to participate in, or help out, with the Night of Fun in any way.
