Football: B-G downs Spencer-Van Etten in final game of season

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats closed out a consistent 2023 season with a 25-18 win over Spencer-Van Etten/Candor. It was also senior night, where the Bobcats honored its eight seniors. Congratulations to Noah Janinda, Nate Martin, Kevin Lang, Damon Seymour, Gavin Gifford, Levi Gregory, Joe Doyle, and James Hogroian.
B-G and Spencer-Van Etten/Candor were tied at six at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Bobcats 12-6 in the third quarter, but B-G fired up to give the home crowd a victory. B-G scored 13 unanswered points in the final 12 minutes.
The Bobcats were led by sophomore Parker Buttice, who caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Connor Davy, as well as Declyn Marshfield, who has been a team leader all season. Marshfield caught one touchdown pass and also ran for one. He finished with 69 all-purpose yards as Buttice had 91 with six carries for 69 yards and 22 yards from the kick-off return.
Davy finished 12-for-19 for 107 yards with the three touchdown passes. He was also quick on his feet and rushed 10 times for 59 yards.
Seniors Damon Seymour and Noah Janinda were also contributors on offense. Seymour finished with 16 carries for 89 yards as Janinda split time rushing and receiving. Janinda rushed for five yards and received the ball twice for a total of eight yards.
Seymour also led the Bobcats with 10 tackles on defense while teammate James Hogroian finished behind him with seven, including five solo tackles.
B-G have a couple crossover games remaining after falling short on reaching the Section IV, Class D playoffs. The Bobcats finished 4-5 overall and 3-4 in their competitive league. B-G heads to Whiney Point on Thursday, November 2 at 6 p.m.
