Girls' Basketball: Greene begins 2023 season with big win over Newfield
GREENE – Coming off a strong 2022 season the Greene Trojans girls basketball team is looking to repeat efforts and is already off to good start. Greene started the 2023 season with a big 64-20 win over Newfield.
The defending MAC division II champions came out firing in the first quarter with 21 points and built great momentum going forward. With losing three valuable seniors, the Trojans returned key players who were not limited in this contest.
Josie Dutcher led the charge with 15 points as Claire Flanagan had a strong outing with 12 points. Mia Yahner stepped up to the varsity squad from her impressive efforts at the end of last season and tied with Cali Knapp for 8 points while Lyla Biefeldt and Abby Yahner both had 6 points in the win.
Greene (1-0) heads to Delhi on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
