Chenango County Sheriff arrests Oxford man with Fentanyl, meth and cocaine

OXFORD – On December 20, a Town of Oxford resident was arrested by members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for multiple drug-related felonies. Police said he had previously fled from officers and was found to be in possession of Fentanyl, meth and cocaine.
Keith E. Tompkins, 32, of the Town of Oxford, was charged with second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (A-II Felony), two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (B Felony).
He was also charged with one count of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and nine counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tompkins after an investigation into a traffic stop.
During the investigation members of the sheriff’s office reported observing a male, who was laying on the floor in the back of the vehicle and attempting to conceal himself by hiding under automotive parts.
The male was later identified as Tompkins.
Tompkins had an active arrest warrant out of the Village of Oxford Court for Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer, stemming from a previous investigation into a traffic stop, where Tompkins fled in a vehicle from members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office who were attempting to stop him.
According to police the investigation further revealed that Tompkins was in possession of over two ounces of crack cocaine, just under four ounces of crystal methamphetamine, and approximately 1,150 wax envelopes of Fentanyl.
Tompkins was also found to be in possession of packaging material, several digital scales, and over $2,000 in cash, all indicative of the distribution and sale of drugs.
Tompkins was arraigned at Chenango County Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. Tompkins is to appear in Chenango County Court at a later date.
All crimes are allegations, and suspects named are innocent of the charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
