Wrestling: Oxford/Greene competes in Stan Elinsky Tournament
DEPOSIT - The Oxford/Greene wrestling team competed in the Stan Elinsky Memorial Tournament held in Deposit on Saturday, where they finished fifth with 126.5 points. Oxford/Greene was the only team from our Chenango County area, but they competed against well-known Maine-Endwell, who won the tournament, and Sidney.
Oxford/Greene had an overall good day on the mat with eight wrestlers receiving placement. Aiden Marcin led all wrestlers with a first place finish in the 145 weight class. Marcin, who stands tall with an overall record of 13-2, went 5-0 on the day, including four quick pins. His quickest pin came against Sidney's Matthew Greene in 40 seconds.
Senior Jared Milk finished second in the 190 weight class, going 3-2 on the day. He lost his finals match to M-E's Logan Mcguire in 49 seconds. Jared's quickest pin came against Pine Bush's Ethan Bray in 29 seconds.
Troy Braman and Chris Callahan both finished third in their respective weight class. Braman went 3-1 in the 138 class with his only tournament loss to Owego's Collin Monell in a 1:08 pin. The three wins he earned came in pins and Braman now has 10 pin wins on the season in just his sophomore year. Callahan picked up four wins in the 138 weight class as well. The junior won three decisions and a pin with his only loss to Deposit/Hancock's Asaac Mead in 1:26.
Oxford/Greene's Kade Mustin achieved fourth place in the 116 weight class and went 2-3 on the day with a win by techincal fall and by major decision. Isaiah Sexton also came in fourth for the Blackhawks in the 170 weight class, going 2-3 with a pair of pins.
Liam Pohli (sixth place) and Aiden Treiman (seventh place) also earned placements on the day while Colin Morlando, Stephen Palmatier, Colten Button, Corbin Daughtry, and Urijah Dibble all came up short.
