Wrestling: S-E, UV, BGAH compete in Oneonta’s Rotary tournament
ONEONTA – The Sherburne-Earlville, Unatego/UV, and Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville wrestling teams competed in the Ross Cordell Rotary tournament in Oneonta on Saturday. Unatego/UV took second, while S-E came in 11th and BGAH in 17th place.
UV’s Caleb Cole led all local teams as he went 3-0 to finish in first place in the 124 weight class. Everyone who competed for the Unatego/UV Spartans placed in the meet with UV’s Wyatt Meade achieving third place in the 152 weight class with three pin wins and only lost to Cooperstown’s Tj O’Connor by a 9-7 decision. UV’s Caleb Wildenstein finished sixth in the 190 weight class, going 1-3 on the day. His lone win came in a 5-4 decision against Oneonta’s Lucas Weaver.
S-E’s Aiden Kiehn made it to the finals in the 190 weight class, where he finished second in the 6-2 loss to Shaker’s Paul Harley and also picked up two pin wins. Cameron Mason finished fifth in the 138 weight class, where he went 3-2 as teammate Cody Clarkson took sixth in the 170 weight class, where he picked up one win in a 1:20 pin against Shaker’s Tobias Torian.
BGAH only brought three guys to this tournament where Blake Prisco competed in the most matches for the Bears, going 3-2 and finishing fifth in the 145 weight class. One of his matches included facing S-E’s Justin Race, where Prisco picked up the win in a 4:45 pin. Silas Greenman and Frank Parsons fell in both of their matches.
