Winter Track: Local trackletes compete in Hurley Invitational

ITHACA – On Friday, local winter track teams traveled to Ithaca College to compete in the Hurley Invitational in the first meet of the new year.

Athletes from Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Norwich, Oxford/Greene, and Unadilla Valley all participated amongst each other, where many achieved new personal best times. Full results can be found on ny.milesplit.com.

BGAH:

Girls:

The BGAH girls had many standout athletes including great performances by Ethne Degan, Maddie Ingham, Makayla McCloud, Vanessa Brazee, Lelania Baldwin, and Emily Sprow. All these dedicated ladies did well in at least one or more events.

Degan, Baldwin, Brazee, and Ingham competed as a team in the 4x800 relay, where they finished second with a time of 10:50.08, behind Corning’s 10:13.85.

Degan also took the top finish in her prominent event of the 1000 meter run, where she achieved a new personal best time of 3:02.99. Teammate Macey LaFever finished 18th in the same event with her own personal best of 3:47.60.

Ingham ran the 600 meter event for a fifth place finish with a time of 1:46.03 while Sage Pruskowski finished 18th (1:57.39). Makayla McCloud led the Bears in three events on the day with her best performance in the 55 meter dash, finishing fifth while setting a new best time of 46.08 seconds in the 300 meter dash, which was good for eighth place. She also achieved ninth in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 11 inches and watched as teammate Brenna George accomplished a new best 14-4 for 16th place.
