Girls’ Basketball: S-E tops Waterville for 10th win of season
SHERBURNE – Since falling to Greene in the UV Holiday tournament last month, the Sherburne-Earlville Lady Marauders have won three straight games, including Thursday’s match-up against Waterville 44-29. S-E played a tough second half to secure their 10th win of the season. S-E is behind Little Falls in the CSC division I standings with a 3-1 record and rank fourth in the CSC Conference overall with a 7-2 record.
S-E took a 22-16 lead in a rather slow start for both teams, but the Marauders picked up the pace in the second half. The defense even held Waterville to just three points and outscored them 22-13 in the second half alone. With this win, S-E has swept the two-game series against the Eagles.
Efforts were led by Hannah Todd-Rogers, who recorded her sixth double-double of the season. Todd-Rogers scored a team-high of 18 points and also had 10 rebounds. The senior forward now has 120 rebounds through 14 games this season. Alex Grzymkowski finished with 16 points, including three three-pointers while Chesnee Miller had six points. Abby Shaver and Alyse Brown both scored two points, but rather helped at rebounding. Brown contributed with a team-high 12 rebounds while Shaver picked up 10 in the win.
S-E (10-4) hosts Clinton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
