Boys’ Basketball: Norwich earns close win vs Oneonta
ONEONTA – The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ basketball team traveled to Oneonta on Thursday, where they came away with a tight 57-54 win against their STAC opponent and longtime rival.
It was an intense game between both teams and Norwich had pushed through in the final eight minutes to seal the victory. Norwich led 27-26 at halftime after firing 20 points at the start, but were down by two at the end of the third quarter. They outscored Oneonta 16-11 to earn their sixth win of the season.
Norwich’s offensive efforts were led by Jacob Morris, who hit six three’s for 20 points. He, along with Mitchell Collins, Wyatt Thornton, and Graham Burton led the Purple Tornado in the fourth quarter. Morris and Collins both had five points in those eight minutes while Thornton had four and Burton with two. Thornton finished with 10 points on the night as Steven Dowdall and Burton both settled for eight in the win.
Norwich will play Oneonta again at their own home court this time and that game will take place on February 7 at 7:15 p.m. It will be Norwich’s final home game of the season.
Norwich is right back in action this evening as they host Sus Valley at 7:15 p.m.
