Girls’ Basketball: Norwich comes away with a big win vs Dryden
DRYDEN – On Wednesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ basketball team traveled to non-league opponent Dryden, coming away with a big 74-19 victory. Throughout the game, Norwich held Dryden to single-digit scoring while taking advantage offensively.
Norwich started off strong to take a dominant 44-8 lead at halftime before only remaining consistent in the final two quarters. The Purple Tornado also showed improvement at the foul line, shooting 63 percent, making five-of-eight free throws, a bit less than what they’re used to. The offense, led by Olivia Schiraldi, Josey Ryan, and Emma Urgo, excelled with seven three-pointers on the night.
Schiraldi knocked down two three’s to lead Norwich with 18 points as Josey Ryan fired up with four three’s for 17 points. Urgo finished with 10 points as Brynley Ryan contributed with nine points in the win.
Norwich improves to 6-4 and continues their road trip against Seton Catholic on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
