Girls' Basketball: Norwich comes up short vs Seton
BINGHAMTON - Coming off a big win against Dryden, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls' basketball team faced a challenging Seton Catholic team on Friday night. Norwich's efforts fell short in a 44-40 deficit with only more tough matches ahead.
Norwich started off strong to take a 20-15 lead at halftime, despite being held to just two points in the second quarter off free-throws. Norwich's first quarter efforts were led by Brynley Ryan with 10 of her total 12 points in those eight minutes alone.
The Purple Tornado stayed fierce in the third quarter, but Seton started to warm up themselves. Olivia Schiraldi's seven points in the third helped Norwich hold a 32-29 lead at the end of the quarter. However, Seton was hard to stop in the final eight minutes as they outscored Norwich 15-8 to secure the victory.
Brynley Ryan led the Purple Tornado offense with 12 points while Schiraldi had 10 points. Emma Urgo pushed through with seven points as Josey Ryan was limited to just six points in the loss.
Norwich (6-5) heads to Delhi this evening at 7:15 p.m.
