Boys’ Basketball: Greene tops Harpursville
HARPURSVILLE – The Greene Trojans boys’ basketball team faced MAC opponent Harpursville on Wednesday night, coming away with a 59-45 victory. It is the Trojans’ seventh win of the season and they remain behind Delhi in the league standings with a 5-1 record, only league loss to the first place Bulldogs.
Both teams played neck-and-neck following tip-off and were tied at 15 after the first eight minutes. The efforts would continue, but Greene held a two-point 25-23 advantage at halftime. Competitiveness was only stronger in the second half with Greene pushing through to drive the lead a little at a time and never let their guard down, despite Harpursville remaining consistent offensively.
Greene was led by Jaden Eroshevich, who had 20 points, all in the second half with the most of 14 in the fourth quarter alone. Will Dunlap had 16 points with eight points in the first quarter and stayed consistent throughout the remainder of the contest. Colin Colgan impressed with 11 points with Joel Vielandi being limited to just six on the night.
Greene (7-5) heads to Deposit/Hancock on Friday at 7:15 p.m. to conclude a four-game road trip.
