Wrestling: Oxford/Greene hosts section IV 'B' qualifier

GREENE – The Oxford/Greene wrestling team hosted the Section IV 'B' qualifiers on Saturday, featuring 12 local teams. Oxford/Greene came in eighth place with 72 points as Windsor and Oneonta tied for first place with 168 points.
Oxford/Greene had four wrestlers qualify for sectionals with Aiden Marcin leading the pack with a second place finish at 138 pounds. Marcin, who has excelled this season and stands tall with a 22-3 record, went 2-1 with two pins, one against teammate Chris Callahan in 32 seconds. Callahan went 2-2 in the same weight class, but didn't place. Marcin's only loss in the qualifiers was to Windsor's Tim Boyce in an 11-2 major decision in the finals.
Teammate Troy Braman finished third in the 131 weight class. He went 2-1 with a decision and a 55 second pin against Windsor's Mason Colgan. Both Jared Milk and Kade Mustin came in fourth in their respective weight class. Both wrestlers won only one match on the day with Milk defeating Oneonta's Lucas Weaver in a hard fought 3:29 pin while Mustin won by a medical forfeit.
Dominick Battista, Colten Button, Urijah Dibble, David Dunkel, Colin Morlando, and Isaiah Sexton worked hard in their matches, but came up short of placement.
Good luck to Oxford/Greene in sectionals on February 10 at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton. The championships will begin at 10 a.m.
