NEW BERLIN – New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 celebrated their achievements of 2023 in January at a “Court of Honor Awards Ceremony.”
Troop member Monti was named Scout of the Year and was recognized with a plaque.
Each youth and adult member received a 2023 Gold, Journey to Excellence Award. The New Berlin troop completed goals in 10 of the 11 categories, and supported other troops in the area by hosting the Millbrook Encampment in May, the Soap Box Derby in June, and the Chenango District Bowl-a-Thon in December.
Tent camping has been great fun these last two months. The January "Blizzard Adventure" included four days and three nights of winter camping at Camp Kingsley in Rome.
Scouts earned merit badges in snow sports, art, mammal study, wilderness survival, and astronomy. Our February campout focused on healthy cooking in the outdoors after a tour at Golden Artist Colors.
New Berlin Boy Scout Troop 61 meets weekly, tent camps monthly, and is chartered by the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post #348.
All boys, age 11-17, are welcome to check out the fun with a purpose at the Wednesday, 6:30-8 p.m. meetings, and the wide variety of opportunities on our 2024 calendar of activities at www.troop61newberlin.com.
