SMYRNA – The Smyrna Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting a delicious homemade lasagna dinner on Saturday, February 24 at the fire station.
The dinner with begin at 4:30 p.m. and include a silent auction.
The buffet will include lasagna, Italian bread, tossed salad, dessert and drinks and is the group's main fundraising event for the year.
“We use money in our treasury to buy supplies to support our fire department. Supplies such as food and refreshments are used for our men and women volunteers when they are out fighting fires and attending to other emergencies in our community,” said Smyrna Auxiliary President Tracy Skinner.
The Smyrna Fire Auxiliary also donates and offers support to families or business who have lost their belongings in a fire.
“Also, every year the auxiliary convinces Santa Claus to take time out of his busy holiday schedule to come to Smyrna to see children. While he visits with the children, the auxiliary furnishes refreshments and fun activities for the children. In addition to this, we also send gifts to several elderly members of the community. It brightens their day and gives them something to look forward to every year. We are very community minded and try to help whenever we can,” said Skinner.
