Southern Tier 8 launches new website of resources

SOUTHERN TIER — Southern Tier 8 launched their new website on Wednesday, March 20 at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich, which provides resources for projects and businesses, information on what the area has to offer, and promotes the Southern Tier and its businesses.


Southern Tier 8 is a regional planning board that works with the Appalachian Regional Commission and US Commerce Economic Development Administration to implement federal funding in the Southern Tier.


The organization provides technical assistance, resources, and connections for county governments, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations in Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties.

"We fund a lot of workforce development programs, so we support the county planning departments in each of the eight counties, our Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs), chambers, workforce development organizations, BOCES," said Southern Tier 8 Executive Director Jen Gregory. "We’re very behind the scenes, and that’s intentional. So the partners we put out there, they're the front line when people call, and if they have an idea we take their project, we develop it, and we prepare it for federal investment."
