Softball: S-E stays hot, defeats Canastota

CANASTOTA – Coming off a big shutout victory at home against Clinton, the Sherburne-Earlville softball team traveled to take on Canastota. S-E picked up the 5-2 win after a scoreless game up until the fourth inning.

S-E broke up the scoreless outing with one run off Jeanine Chamberlain’s RBI single. Canastota tied it up with a bases-loaded walk, but S-E went back to work in the fifth inning. S-E secured their fourth victory with a four-run fifth. S-E scored on an error, Emilee Bennett’s ground-out RBI, Chesnee Miller’s RBI single, and Chamberlain picked up her second RBI of the day on a double. Chamberlain and Emily Lawrence both had two hits in the win.

S-E’s Fisher continues to be stellar on the mound. She struck out 10 batters after a 19-strikeout performance in Tuesday’s game.

S-E (4-1) has a break in their schedule for the time being as they will take on Chenango County neighbors Norwich in a non-league match-up on Friday, April 26 at 4:30 p.m.
