Softball: B-G on a roll, defeats Afton

BAINBRIDGE – Coming off big wins against Greene and Charlotte Valley, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team played their third game in a row as they hosted Afton. B-G continued to hit the ball well and have solid pitching as they picked up a big 22-4 win. B-G’s first four games have consisted of scoring 12 or more runs to dominate opponents offensively.
The Bobcats had a seven-run first inning, added four more runs in the second, six more runs in the third, and ended with a five-run fourth inning. Alessandra Cafasso led the Bobcats by going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. She hit a home run, tripled, and doubled and was one single shy of a cycle. Gabby Cuozzo also went 3-for-3 and picked up four RBIs. Madisyn Peck went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Danica Park was walked three times and scored four runs.
Afton got on the board with one run in the second inning on a steal of home. The Crimson Knights added another run in the third off an RBI single by A. Cable. Afton reached on an error and a walk before M. Schultz drove in two with an RBI single in the final at-bats. On the mound, Z. Bushaw struck out one batter in a tough outing.
B-G’s Brenna George and Railey O’dell split time on the mound with George going four innings and O’dell closing the game out in the fifth. George allowed two runs on two hits, walked three, and struck out six batters. O’dell allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit and walked four batters.
B-G (4-0) plays in their fourth consecutive game this afternoon as they host Delhi at 4:30 p.m. Afton (0-6) hosts Delhi on Friday at the same time.
