Softball: B-G earns two wins over the weekend; stays unbeaten
CHENANGO COUNTY - The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team has held their own in the last few games to stay unbeaten on the season. They played two over the weekend with Friday night's game against Walton/Downsville and Saturday against Harpursville. Both games were winners with the Bobcats holding their opponents to just three runs scored. B-G piled up 24 runs on 15 hits during Friday's 24-3 victory and 18 runs on 13 hits on Saturday, continuing to show how hot their bats have been lately.
B-G is all alone up top in the MAC standings as Deposit-Hancock suffered their first loss on the season.
On Friday, Kaylin Furgason, Alessandra Cafasso, and Jayslin Henderson led the offense with their stellar performances at the plate. Cafasso smacked a three-run homer to right field in the top of the fifth. She also hit a two-run home run in Saturday's game while also driving in five runs on three hits. Henderson went 3-for-4 in Friday's game, driving in two runs as Furgason went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Kate Baciuska drove in four runs with a two-run single, a fielder's choice, and a groundout RBI in Friday's win.
Railey O'dell picked up the win against Walton/Downsville as she and Alessandra Cafasso split time on the mound. Both combined for nine strikeouts as Brenna George pitched Saturday's game and struck out 12 batters.
Madisyn Peck drove in three runs as Baciuska drove in two in Saturday's win over Harpursville.
B-G (10-0) hosts Delhi on Wednesday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m.
