NORWICH – Earlier this year, Norwich’s Daphney Frank received a letter from Section IV that sent her on an experience of a lifetime. Frank, a sophomore at Norwich High School and the goalie for the varsity soccer team, was one of 100 athletes in Section IV, invited to play in Barcelona, Spain as part of the All Star team. 70 athletes went out of that group of 100.
From help and support from her friends and family, Frank was able to go on a wonderful trip to Spain over spring break last month. She absolutely loved the trip and hopes to go back someday. Among the 70 athletes in attendance, Frank said she didn’t know who anyone else was, so it was hard to fit in at first, but had roommates and made fast connections.
In Barcelona, Frank was amazed that the club field was similar to the one she was used to playing on with the Chenango Chargers. At the club field, she and the all star team played against some of the finest Barcelona club teams, which Frank said was a lot harder to play against because they played a lot differently. The Section IV all-star team was able to win one of three games with a pull-through victory.
