CHENANGO COUNTY – Section IV athletics announced its 2024 inductees of the Hall of Fame in mid-April. Out of the list of athletes, coaches, and contributors, one inductee was from the Chenango County area; Shane DuBois. DuBois graduated from Sherburne-Earlville in 1991 and was a member of the Cross country and track and field team, which was under Section IV at the time and now is under Section III.
DuBois was a two-time Section IV Class C individual champion and a two-time NYS runner-up in cross country. He was also named All-American in 1990 from Track and Field News and a member of two NYS Class C, three Section IV, and four Sus League championship teams. DuBois’ 1989-1990 cross country team was inducted into the S-E Hall of Fame in 2019.
DuBois also ran cross country and track at Notre Dame University. DuBois will be honored at the May 11 Section IV HOF ceremony, which he will miss due to his daughter’s college graduation the same weekend.
DuBois is grateful for this honor, but wished it was a team honor rather than an individual, because the whole team and the coaches were all dedicated. He also loved cross country for its team aspect.
