S-E softball shuts down Onondaga-Lafayette; advances in Section III tournament

NEDROW – After winning the CSC Division I, the Sherburne-Earlville softball team received the 10th seed in the Section III, Class B tournament. For the first round of sectionals, they traveled to seventh-seed Onondaga-Lafayette. S-E came away with a 6-0 shutout victory with Haleigh Fisher pitching a two-hitter.

Fisher got S-E on the board with an RBI single and Emily Lawrence extended the lead with a two-run triple in the third inning. S-E riding on a steady 3-0 lead added on with two runs in the fourth inning off an error. Their final run in the sixth inning also came off an error.

Fisher led the team with two hits as Lawrence, Kadyn Babcock, Reagan Krueger, and Chesnee Miller each had one hit in the win. Fisher allowed just two hits, no walks, and struck out 14 batters.

S-E (13-1) heads to second-seed Marcellus on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the quarter-finals. No admission will be charged.
