Oxford/Greene Track competes in Class C Championship

SIDNEY – The Oxford/Greene track and field team traveled to Sidney on Wednesday to compete in the Section IV, Class C Championship. The Sidney girls' won the sectional title with Oxford/Greene tied for ninth place with Newark Valley. For the boys', Lansing won the title as Oxford/Greene finished eighth.

Oxford/Greene continues to let their talent shine in the remaining scheduled meets.

Boys:

The Oxford/Greene boys' took eighth in sectionals with 34 team points. The 4x800 team, which consisted of Aidan Amin, Aiden Ives, Gordon Smith, and Eddie Golden, took fourth while the 4x100 and 4x400 teams both finished fifth.

Senior Aidan Amin achieved two new personal best times in his prominent 800 meter run and triple jump events. He took fifth in the 800 meter run with a new best time of 2:09.54 as he jumped a new best 35 feet, four inches for 13th place in the triple jump. Golden finished 18th in the 800 meter run, setting a new best time of 2:19.60. Isaac Utter also jumped in the triple jump, where he finished 16th with a new best jump of 34-4.25.

Gordon Smith added on to his two school records as he finished second in both the 1600 and 3200 meter run. In the 1600, Smith achieved a new best time of 4:34.90 while running the 3200 meters in a new best 10:10.71. Anthony Bourn took second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 11:43.08 as teammate Trent Hamilton set a new personal best time of 14:04.45 for 14th place.
