Legion Baseball: Norwich falls to Otego

NORWICH – After three straight games over the weekend, the Norwich Post #189 Legion team faced off against Otego on Monday evening. It was a close up until the middle of the game, where Otego took advantage offensively and went on to win 27-10. Both teams hit the ball well in the high-scoring affair.
Otego took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Norwich quickly answered back to tie. Kaden Downey, who went 3-for-4 at the plate, hit a two-run double while Connor White drove in a run on a groundout RBI.
Norwich took a brief lead in the bottom of the second inning as Mikey Brunick scored on a steal of home. Otego went ahead in the top of the third inning with six runs to take the overall lead and added on to it in the fourth and fifth innings.
Norwich had a four-run fourth inning as two walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Kaden Downey, who drove in two more runs to finish with four RBIs on the night with a single. Joey Parker reloaded the bases with a single to follow. Two runs would score on hit by pitches.
Norwich added one more run in their final-at bats in the bottom of the fifth inning. Zac Turner tripled and scored on Joey Parker’s RBI single. Parker had two hits and a stolen base as Downey had three hits and four RBIs while Connor White had two RBIs.
