OXFORD - Eating locally-grown fruits and veggies means eating foods when they are in season, or purchasing them when they are in season and preparing them for storage by freezing or preserving so they can be enjoyed all year long. Right now, berries are bursting into ripeness, and all kinds, from blueberries and raspberries, to red, white and black currents — colors positively bursting with flavor — will be available at the Oxford Farmers’ Market this Saturday on Lafayette Park in Oxford, 9 am - Noon.
This Saturday, vendors will also be offering a huge variety of locally-grown vegetables and mushrooms, locally raised and processed beef, lamb and pork; plant starts for your gardens; chicken and duck eggs; a wide range of cheese, butter, and other dairy products; artisanal breads and baked goods; fudges, and jams; local hard ciders; maple syrup and honey; hand-made healthy treats for dogs, hand-made soaps, lotions and balms; items for the kitchen and home; and artisan fiber products. Every product straight from a local source and the skilled hands of your neighbors.
In addition, the fabulous one-man-band, Jo Jo Russell, will be performing in the Bandstand, 10 am - Noon. And there will be village-wide Trash-to-Treasure yard sales in Oxford starting at 9 am.
