GREENE — Downtown Greene will be bustling with about 80 vendors, food, music and shoppers during the 47th annual Greene Arts and Crafts Festival sponsored by the Greene Lions Club.

Join the free festivities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 27, located in the heart of downtown Greene on Genessee Street. Parking can be found in the center of the main drag and also behind the buildings downtown.

Lions Club member Gary Breuilly said they have a lot of arts and craft vendors signed up along with a maple syrup vendor.

“We have about 80 vendors in all and restaurants will be open and offering specials during the event,” said Breuilly.

He said the list of restaurants offering specials include Boudreau's Bistro, Foo Chow Chinese Restaurant, Bonnies, The Trojan House Deli and Catering,Tony T's, Magros Pizzeria and the Greene Bowlodrome.

Additionally, The Lions Club recently upgraded the Greene PA system through a grant from the Raymond Foundation.

Breuilly said the PA system was just finished Monday and they will have an interesting mix of older and newer music playing during the festival.

“Our MC, who works for Raymond Corporation, has a bluetooth playlist he has developed specifically for the event,” he added.

He said the Lions Club has been around since the 1960’s and has about 50 members in Greene.

“We’ve actually handled this particular event since 2018 after the Chamber of Commerce of Greene and Chenango County Chamber of Commerce merged and then we took it over,” said Breuilly.

The Lions club is a service organization and all money raised from events goes back into the community. They offer scholarships for high school students and hold little league games, the soccer program, softball leagues, and most recently had a Touch A Truck event at the Lions Club Park.
