Driver from Mount Upton charged with attempted murder
OTSEGO COUNTY – On Monday, July 22, the New York State Police arrested Skylar A. Clement, 20 of Mount Upton reporting he intentionally struck another person with a vehicle.
Clement is charged with second degree attempted murder, a class A felony and first degree assault, a class B felony.
Police reported an investigation began on Sunday, July 21, shortly after 8 p.m. Troopers responded to County Route 18 and State Highway 51 in Butternuts where they discovered a victim was intentionally struck by a vehicle and the suspect fled the scene.
The victim sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. The victim was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.
Overnight, troopers and investigators located the vehicle that was used at the time of the crime in Guilford. Clement was located shortly after 4 a.m., Monday in the City of Norwich and taken into custody.
He was transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
All crimes described are allegations, and defendants are innocent of the charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
