Norwich Golf defeats Forks in home opener

NORWICH – Coming off a fifth place finish at the DiNunzio tournament, the Norwich Purple Tornado golf team returned to Canasawacta for their home opener against Chenango Forks. Norwich, with its young but experienced golfers, shot a low 211 to Forks’ 262 to pick up their second team victory of the season.
After Brevin Bennett led the pack in both the first match and at the tournament, Matthew Brunick stepped up for the second match and shot an all-around low of a 38. Bennett and Jacob Dowdall both shot a 41 on the par 36, new nine. Julien Smith finished with a 43 as Michael Brunick rounded out the team scoring with a 48. Gavin Burrell also shot a 53.
Forks’ scores ranged from a low 46 to a high 66.
Forks also brought some extra golfers with them, which gave Norwich’s Brayden Adoff, Charlie Smith, and Jacob Lobdell some playing time. Smith shot a 48, Adolff had a 52, and Lobdell with a 61.
