Greene field hockey goes even on the weekend
CHENANGO COUNTY – The Greene Trojans field hockey team started its 2024 season over the weekend and went 1-1 with a win over Owego in Friday’s season opener and a loss to Rome on Saturday.
Greene earned the 3-1 victory over Owego on Friday. Both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter and then the score was tied 1-1 at the half. Claire Flanagan scored the team’s first goal of the season off an assist from Rachel Anderson.
Greene’s Josie Dutcher and Nadia Brown scored the final two unanswered goals to earn the victory. Dutcher also assisted Brown’s goal. Braelyn Blakeslee and Mya Leggett-Carlin split time in goal, where Blakeslee made one save.
