Boys Soccer:
Greene defeats Homer 5-1
HOMER – On Wednesday, the Greene Trojans boys’ soccer team traveled to Homer for a non-league matchup, where the Trojans picked up their second win in a row with a 5-1 victory. It was also Greene’s fourth win of the season.
Kloden Rapp led the Trojans with two goals and two assists. He now has eight goals and seven assists through six games played. Kenny Baucas, Pax McCumisky, and Jack Rice all score one goal each as Baucas also had one assist in the win.
Greene (4-2) heads to Athens on Saturday morning.
Norwich boys fall to Oneonta
NORWICH – After a second place finish in the Oxford boys tournament, the Norwich Purple Tornado headed home to face Oneonta on Wednesday evening under the lights.
Norwich fell 4-1 with a lone goal from Wyeth Stafford. Norwich heads to Sus Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.
Girls Soccer:
Greene suffers first loss of the season, drops to Delhi
GREENE – Coming off a hot streak, the Greene Trojans girls’ soccer team hosted Delhi for a MAC league matchup. Delhi scored what ended up being the game-winning goal halfway through the first half and won 1-0, handing Greene its first loss of the season.
Despite the loss, Greene put four shots on goal with two from Cali Knapp and one shot from both Johanna Trepa and Liesl Ludolph.
Greene (4-1, 1-1) hosts B-G in the Greene girls soccer tournament tonight at 7 p.m.
OV girls drop to McGraw
McGRAW – The Otselic Valley Vikings girls’ soccer team traveled to McGraw on Wednesday, where they suffered a 5-0 loss. It was noted that OV had great opportunities and played tough, despite the loss.
OV’s Carlie Golden made 25 saves in goal and now has 122 saves through six games played this season.
OV (0-6) heads to Brookfield on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Volleyball:
UV drops to Sidney
NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm volleyball team hosted Sidney for a MAC league matchup, where the teams battled it out for the second and final time this season. Sidney, who defeated the Storm in the first match of the season 3-2, swept the series with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday evening. Despite the loss, the sets were very close in score; 25-15, 25-23, and 25-19.
UV’s Shyla Roberts led the team with three aces and three kills as Piper Hine added three assists. Shannon Gilbert had one kill and two digs as Madison Pierce finished with five assists and an ace. Cheyanne MaMahon also added one ace in the loss.
UV (1-3) heads to the Johnson City tournament on Saturday morning before resuming league play at Hancock on Monday at 6 p.m.
