Girls Soccer: Oxford holds on vs UV

OXFORD – Holding on to a 1-0 lead isn’t easy, especially when the other team is hitting hard shots on goal in attempt to tie the game, but the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer team stood their ground to earn the victory against Unadilla Valley. Both coaches attest to this game being an exciting battle to the finish.

The lone goal of the contest was scored by Oxford’s Emily Holbert on a corner kick off a pass from Paige Rickard.

“Overall, this was one of our best games so far this season,” Oxford head coach Rachel Seiler said. “The girls dug deep and played great defense in the second half. We are all looking forward to our tournament this weekend.”
