Boys Soccer: Oxford holds on vs B-G

BAINBRIDGE – The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ soccer team came away with a close 3-2 victory against MAC opponent Bainbridge-Guilford on Thursday afternoon. Oxford continues to power through with an impressive six-game winning streak since dropping their first and only game to Vernon-Verona Sherrill in the Sherburne-Earlville tournament championship at the beginning of the season. Coach Corey Endress and his team hope to keep it going, especially with Greene in hot pursuit in the MAC standings.

Oxford’s Gordon Smith opened up the scoring with a goal off a pass from Paxton LaMonica. Donovan Rickard would add on to that with his own score from Sam Hendricks on a corner kick. However, B-G tied the game to close out the first half. Both Ben and Brock Porter scored to tie the game at 2 at the half.

Both teams battled in the final 40 minutes of play, but it was Oxford that came out with the victory. Paxton LaMonica scored the game-winner off an assist from Sam Hendricks.
