NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ soccer team hosted Sus Valley in a STAC league match-up on Wednesday, which was also senior night.
At halftime, Norwich honored its five seniors. Congratulations to Timothy Miner, Jonah Adams, Jett Terry, Sawyer Swingle, and Kristopher Deuel.
Norwich suffered a 4-0 loss on their special night to a tough Sabers team. Sus Valley had good possession early on, which allowed them to take control of the game, including scoring within the first minute of the game. Norwich saw some good touches by Kris Deuel on a header that just missed the net and James Sprague with a slow roller that went just right of the goal. Norwich was down 2-0 at the half.
Norwich added a few more shots on goal in the second half, but they came late as Sus Valley hit some hard balls that were saved by goalkeeper Timothy Miner, aside from the two additional goals scored. Norwich’s Wyeth Stafford had good control halfway through the half, but the Sabers goalie was strong in net as well. William Hunter saw a good opportunity on a direct kick with under two minutes to go, but couldn’t capitalize.
Norwich hits the road for its three remaining regular season games. The Purple Tornado head to Oneonta on Tuesday, October 8 for a 5 p.m. start.
