Boys Soccer:
S-E tops Canastota in overtime
CANASTOTA – The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys’ soccer team traveled to Canastota, where they fought back in the second half to force overtime, and scored to win 2-1.
S-E was down 1-0 at halftime and their defense pulled through, which set up a beautiful goal by William Leinbach to send the game to overtime. From there, Leinbach provided the assist on Gibson Sherwood’s game-winner. Goalkeeper JJ Fischer recorded seven saves in net for the Timberwolves. S-E (2-6-1) hosts Clinton on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Oxford defeats Delhi
DELHI – The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ soccer team held on to a 2-1 victory against Delhi on Thursday. The Blackhawks took a 1-0 lead into the half from a goal scored by Paxton LaMonica off an assist from Eddie Golden. It was noted that they had dominated possession, but couldn’t capitalize from there. The score would remain 1-0 until Delhi tied the game within three minutes left in the game. Oxford then kicked it up a notch and brought the intensity as Dawson Viele scored on a corner kick with under a minute left. It was Viele’s first varsity goal. Oxford (7-3) hosts local, out of section Otselic Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m. for Homecoming.
